Except when they do. I guess I should have realized that there was a problem when we never even got an email from the Okra Strut organizers. Most festival organizers send an email or a packet in the mail before the event. A few don't, but they have a website that lists the exhibitors. Okra Strut did nothing. Marlee called them and they said that they were short handed. Ok. They deposited our check so we went. We found Irmo and usually that is enough. But there were no directional signs anywhere. I tried following the traffic, but they were all going to the parade which was not going near the festival. And why would they? We were set up in the parking lot of a strip mall. You know how attractive that can be.
Anyway, we were still optimistic. There was a large stage and after the obligatory dance studios performed, there were live bands the rest of the day. We really enjoyed the music. I was worried because we were set up by the rides and I was afraid that we'd be hearing the same song over and over again.
The main problem was that it rained in the middle of the day. Most people left and they did not come back. Oh well... we have Great Grapes next Saturday.
